Sophia’s Kitchen
The night my friends and I ventured to Sophia’s Kitchen seemed to see more rainfall in one night than maybe my entire lifetime. After finally making it there, I was happy to see a dry patio and clouds beginning to clear. We sat on the beautiful patio, which was a perfect place to enjoy the rare, cool September air.
Sophia’s Kitchen has a menu consisting of pizza, pasta, salads, seafood, bruschetta, and much more. This particular night, I was immediately drawn to pizza, opting for the Monte Bianco. A guilty pleasure of mine is olive oil based pizzas; the ricotta, garlic, and basil all paired together to create a tasty, melt in your mouth experience. Washing it down with a Diet Coke made it a perfect dining experience.
The indoor portion of the restaurant was dark and cozy, but the outside was expansive and gave guests room to enjoy their conversations out loud. With TVs at the bar, Sophia’s kitchen is an adaptable establishment, allowing guests to check in on the game while enjoying a meal. A positive for some, but it could be a negative for others… For a Saturday night, the place was hopping — clearly the rain didn’t stop anyone from coming in for a bite. There was a birthday party outside, and almost all the indoor tables were filled.
For me, the magic of living in Phoenix is our, relatively easy to understand, grid system! I can’t dock points from Sophia’s Kitchen, specifically, but its location at Bell Rd. and Thompson Peak Pkwy. made it a confusing jaunt for someone who doesn’t love using Apple Maps. Not too important, but just something I noticed on my rainy drive there.
Overall, Sophia’s Kitchen is a great spot. A menu with a multitude of options makes it a good fit for most. Prices aren’t outrageous, but they’re definitely up there. I’d like to go back and check out the inside experience, but the patio is great — especially with better weather ahead.
