Luci’s at the Orchard with Scarlet
Let me introduce you to my childhood best friend, Scarlet! On one of our rare Thursdays off school, we went out for some lunch and shopping at Luci’s at the Orchard; a local staple that we explored together. Scarlet is a senior at Horizon High School and has lived here for her whole life. We’ve known each other for basically our whole lives, and our parents (except for my mom) grew up in the same neighborhood we live in today!
We turned the tables a bit for this interview; I brought Scarlet to one of MY favorite local places: Luci’s! They have a few locations across the valley, but my favorite is definitely Luci’s at the Orchard. To our surprise, they still had breakfast items available when we got there around 1:00. Scarlet got a breakfast burrito and I got an açai bowl. Both items were well enjoyed, and the nice weather made the patio a delightful experience. Scarlet and I thought the sprawling shade structure gave everyone room to enjoy the outdoors (it wasn’t super busy so that helped too) and we both liked taking a look around the shop inside. They have a bunch of fun things to buy — definitely a great place for thoughtful and quirky gifts. This could be a perfect one stop shop for one’s day out: food, shopping, and a great indoor and outdoor dining experience.
For as long as I can remember, Scarlet has been involved with the performing arts. Currently, she’s captain of the Horizon pom team and she loves that she can be a role model for her teammates. She also dances with the DanceMotion Performing Company at Bender Performing Arts. One of her favorite memories here is her annual performance with DMPC at the Orpheum in Downtown Phoenix.
Scarlet believes Phoenix has a variety of special communities. She’s proud to be an involved member at Horizon High School, serving as student body PR director. She loves the events STUGO puts on, like Homecoming and Wish Week. She appreciates community building and bonding with her peers as they prepare to host stunning gatherings for the student body. In addition, she believes that our neighborhood in North Phoenix shows a strong bond between neighbors. Everyone’s connected, and we stand strong together to support each other. Scarlet appreciates the care we show one another, and believes that Phoenix as a whole shows this community mindset on a large scale. Scarlet is spending her senior year working on college applications, living in Phoenix with her parents, sister, and cat.
If Scarlet were on a deserted island, she would bring Lizzie McAlpine’s discography with her.
