Antique Gatherings
It’s been TOO long since I’ve checked out an antique store; so this afternoon I made my way over to Antique Gatherings, a shop that has quickly made itself a fixture in the North 32nd community. I love checking out this place around the holidays, getting inspiration for the season of gifting ahead.
It seems like just yesterday that my eighth grade friends and I were trotting in with our Starbucks, looking at the variety of unique items gathered at this store. Pretty soon, they realized that it’s not great to have a bunch of teenagers running around their store, so they didn’t let us in without an adult. Since then, they’ve seemingly relaxed their rules, or I’ve gotten old enough that they don’t need to worry about me anymore.
As with any antique store, it’s hard to predict the product and price range that one may find. Antique Gatherings tends to live on the pricier side, but they have offerings across the board. Some of my favorite finds at this store have just been old postcards and magazines, which can, believe it or not, make a great gift! If I was able to categorize the offerings in any meaningful way, I would say that Antique Gatherings tends to have a lot of large items, including furniture, as well as art pieces. The paintings and display cases could be an explanation as to why the store’s median price tends to be a bit higher than what I’ve noticed at other antique stores. This is not to say, however, that Antique Gatherings doesn’t have a large selection. Expect to see everything from antique trinkets and glassware, to clothes, decor, and accessories.
This afternoon in particular, I came in without the slightest idea of what I was looking for. I think that’s one of the best things you can do when coming into an antique store. Low expectations lead to some amazing finds! While I didn’t walk out with anything today, Antique Gatherings has probably been the place where I’ve found the coolest and most unique items.
Their website claims over 60 vendors and 18,000 square feet of retail space! This spot is a great stop during a day of shopping or antiquing. The Sheaborhood surrounding has a plethora of other dining and shopping opportunities that could lead to a great day spent out and about or with friends! Definitely add Antique Gatherings to your list!
