Stinkweeds
Another well known favorite of mine: Stinkweeds!
A few years ago, I started collecting CDs - mainly because I thought vinyl records were cool, but I didn’t quite have the budget for all of that yet. Fast forward about a year, I dug into what I really wanted from the beginning. I began my record collection with a personal classic “Lover” by Taylor Swift, and quickly grew from there. The colorful discs immediately attracted me, and I was hooked on picking out my favorite alt cover and vinyl color for each of my favorite albums. Though this is a relatively new age concept, I appreciate being welcomed into the community; regardless of the feelings of some “traditional” collectors.
Onto the actual review! A small store, Stinkweeds sits at my favorite intersection: Central Ave. and Camelback Rd. It’s close to my house, and is a quick stop for me when I hit up a restaurant, etc. uptown. There are always people there to flip through the stacks, even if the parking lot looks empty. The employees are always kind, greet you when you walk in, and will answer any of your questions about turntables, speakers, records, and beyond. Many times I enter and leave with a completely different album than intended (sometimes I get more than one).
On this particular day, I had my eye on a few different things. I walked around the store with Sabrina Carpenter’s new album in my hand, but I ended up leaving it behind for fear of it melting in the car while I ran other errands. This early Tuesday afternoon saw a pretty busy store. Quite a few people were looking for the next album to add to their collection, but I was still easily able to check out all the sections I was hoping for. I usually hit up the Modern Pop section, before perusing the other sections around the store.
As I sit here and write this now, I’m already planning on heading back to grab the album I had a few days ago. I highly recommend this spot - check it out!
